Sue Ballard

Funeral service for Sue Ballard, 91, of Lawton will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Elliott, of Living Church of God officiating.
Mrs. Ballard passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2024 in Lawton.
Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Viewing will be held on Monday, Feb. 19, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Sue was born on July 21, 1932 in Ada, to LC “Dugan” and Hazel A. (Varner) Miers. She grew up in Ada where she attended school, graduating from Ada High School in 1950. She married Gerald Ballard on Nov. 27, 1951 and they lived in Ada for a while and later moved to Oklahoma City. They then moved to Lawton in 1959 where they remained. Sue worked as a realtor for Park Jones Real Estate in the mid 70’s and later was a bookkeeper at Salvation Army. She also worked at Brookridge Retirement Community as the receptionist for several years. She loved to travel and loved going anywhere that offered a beach. She enjoyed music, family, and art work. Sue loved taking drives to see the beauty of God’s creation, watching sunsets, sunrises, and cloud formations.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jack Carden, of Lawton; three sons: Bruce Ballard and Michael Ballard, both of Cache, and Steven Ballard, of Lawton; her sisters and a brother-in-law: Louise Ritchardson, of Texarkana, TX and Sandra and Jerry Carr, of Clovis, CA; her grandchildren and their spouses: Jaree and John Chelenza, Brett and Kelsey Carden, and Stacy and Steffan Sigler; her great-granddaughter, Blakely Carden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald Ballard who passed away on Aug. 29, 1997; her brother and sister-in-law, Nick and Jane Miers; and her brother-in-law, Harold Ritchardson.
