Memorial Service for Ardeth Ann (Elling) Denney was at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel.
Ardeth Ann (Elling) Denney, 79, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 13, 2024 in Snyder. She was born in Lawton on Oct. 25, 1944 to Carl E. and Florence (Hawthorne) Elling. Ardeth graduated from Cache High School in 1962. She attended Cameron College and later transferred to Oklahoma State University in 1964 where she graduated with a degree in Education. She would later graduate with a master’s degree in School Administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. Ardeth retired from Lawton Public Schools as the first principal of the new Pat Henry Elementary School after 30 years of service.
Ardeth remained very active in her church, Wesley Chapel United Methodist, and her community. Ardeth’s contributions to her community included but were not limited to, artist, author, and editor of Prairie Lore and seamstress for the Lawton Community Theater.
Ardeth is survived by her very best friend-in-law, Jimmy Cardenaz; son, Lenson Hearn and wife Gina; sisters: Karen (Elling) Moreno and husband Bill, and Cindy (Elling) Brown; grandson, Zane Hearn and wife Kayla and great-granddaughter, Rosalie, granddaughter Savannah Vaden and husband Grant and great-grandson, Miles, and family and friends too many to name.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Merel Lynn Fry, brother, Henry Carl (Hank) Elling, former spouses, Edward D. (Bobo) Hearn and Jerry Denney, son, Christopher Carl Hearn and wife Emma, brothers-in-law, Harold Brown and Paul Ferguson.
Ardeth loved her family and friends so very much. It was evident every day.
