SSG (ret) Joseph E. Hall

Joseph was born on November 11, 1936 in Norton, Va. to Arnold and Lena (Thomas) Hall. He grew up in Norton where he attended school. He joined the United States Army in the mid 50’s and served his country in Vietnam, Korea, and Germany along with many stateside military bases including Ga., Mo., and Okla.
While serving in the United States Army, he received many awards and medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, Air Medal, (Eighth Award), Mechanics Badge with Propeller Bar, Aircraft Crewman Badge, Senior Aircraft Crewman Badge, three Overseas Bars, Good Conduct Medal, (Fifth Award), Expert (Rifle), and the Vietnam Service Medal (Six Service Stars).
When Mr. Hall retired from the military service on January 31, 1979 after many dedicated years of service to his country, he worked for awhile delivering tupperware and later returned to his studies, going to Vo-Tech to receive his certification as a Diesel Mechanic. He later worked at Eisenhower High School making his way to a maintenance Tech, retiring from that career after 20 years.
Joe married the love of his life, a young lady he had always known from childhood, Miss Jean Delores Shell on March 30, 1961 in Norton, Va. and they celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary this year. He was a longtime member of the Lawton Ranger’s and loved raising and riding horses. Joe was a christian and was a member of Geronimo Baptist Church. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Delores Hall, of the home; his son, Joseph E. Hall, Jr, of Geronimo, Okla.; his daughter and son in law, Elizabeth and Shane Kelley, of Lawton; his grandchildren and their spouses, Cody Hall and fiance, Avery Groce, Archie Hall, Michael and Anna Kelley, and Lauren and Giovanni Riccardi; five great grandchildren; his nieces, nephews; and many other loving family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and his special brother, Richard Crow and wife, Mary.
Funeral service for SSG (ret) Joseph E. Hall, Sr. 88 of Geronimo, Okla. was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Geronimo Baptist Church with Rev. John Cullison, pastor officiating.
Mr. Hall passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 in Duncan, Okla.
Burial was held at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
