Jackie Edward Cork was born at home in Lawton, Oklahoma on May 18, 1943 to Jack Felix and Truby Edna (Mandrell) Cork. He passed away at his home in Cache, Oklahoma on May 26, 2025, just 8 days after turning 82 years old.
Jack was raised on a farm south of Mountain View by his mother and stepfather Orville M. Sloan. He was baptized at the age of 6 at the First Baptist Church in Mountain View. He attended 11 years of school at Sedan School. When the school closed his junior year, he joined the United States Airforce where he received his diploma. He was stationed at bases at Kansas City, Amarillo TX, and San Antonio, TX. He later earned an Associate’s degree in History and a Bachelor’s degree in Business, both from Cameron University.
After his time in the service, he worked a few interesting jobs. One being the Coca Cola Bottling Company in downtown Lawton, where he was a bottle filler for $1.00 an hour and could be seen through the front window of the building. He was a material field representative for Mid America Lumber, as well as a licensed Real Estate Agent for offices such as Larry Wilson’s Realty and Century 21, where he received top salesman for multiple years in a row. He even partnered in opening and operating TLC Realty Company. Jack started his 25-year career with Goodyear Tire and Rubber in 1979, with badge # 0431. He started with banberry division A and eventually moved to technology where he built and tested tires. After his retirement from Goodyear he purchased Cache Furniture Mart. He truly loved the time at the furniture store, buying, trading, selling furniture and just getting to know his customers. Not completely ready to be still, he began yet another career by joining the team at Ft. Sill National Bank. He retired for the second time in 2014.
Jack had a deep appreciation of old cars and has been a member of the Street Rod Association since 1983, owning many classics of his own. The last being a 1982 Ford pickup which he drove until he became ill. He was always active in his community and participated as a member in many civic groups. Some of his favorites include The Home Builders Association, Lawton AMBUCS and the Big Hat Society, The Elks Lodge and even participated in the Lawton Citizens Police Academy.
Jack met the love of his life and best friend, Nita Jo Dodson and they were married on July 8, 1999, at Wichita Baptist Church in Cache. Starting a twenty-seven-year timeless adventure. They enjoyed traveling and family events and just sitting together in his shop or on the front porch. He was known by a few different names; Jackie and Jack of course, but also, JC, Lightning Jack, Honey and Dad. But probably his favorite was Papaw. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren immensely.
He is survived by his wife, Nita of the home; daughters, Jacqueline Rena Weatherly of California, Tina Jo Dorrell and husband James of Cache; son, John Tullous and wife Donna of Cache; six grandchildren; Nikki Duke, Stephanie and Sergio Hinojosa, all of California, Samantha and Andy Vitense, Morgan Ballard, Robert Dorrell and Megan Dorrell, all of Cache; five great grandchildren, Dixie, Tommi (Wad), Ben, Madison and Maysie; as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends that loved him very much.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law, Jane and Kenneth Dodson; and his brother-in-law, Ray Dodson.
Nita and the entire family would like to thank Enhabit Home Health and Refuge Care Hospice for all of the love and care they provided the last few months.
