Celebration of life for James William Mansel, 85, of Elgin was held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Elgin Memorial Cemetery at North Trail Road Elgin, Comanche County, Oklahoma with Pastor Larry Thoma officiating.
Mr. Mansel passed away on Saturday May 24, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 85. James William Mansel was born east of Elgin on the family farm on December 23, 1939, to Frank and Thelma (Nolen) Mansel. He attended Elgin Public School where he graduated in 1958. James Mansel married Geraldine Love in 1958 and were married 29 years. They were blessed with four children.
James was a dedicated worker and self-employed at The Mansel Service Station and James Lube and Oil Station for numerous years helping the community.
He is survived by son Dennis Mansel; son Todd Mansel and Tracy Mansel; son Mike and Melissa Mansel; daughter Jamie Mansel Payne and son-in-law Skip Payne, all of Elgin. He is survived by his sister Shirley Nickell, of Elgin. He is survived by his wife Rita and her children Chris and Debbie Caldwell, Robbie Carmon, and Andrea and Kevin Hardzog. James had 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many other step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Thelma (Nolen) Mansel; his siblings: Geneva Mansel, Betty Jean Workman, Roy Mansel, and Burl Mansel.
He loved going pheasant hunting, boating with his family, being at the lake to water ski, going to visit with his friends for coffee, and enjoyed watching NASCAR and going to car shows. He was a beloved husband, dad, brother, Papa, uncle, cousin, and friend.
