Marcellene Janell "Marcy" Brown O'Malley, lovingly known as "Mema" to many family members and friends, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Friday, November 14, 2025, at the age of 90.
Marcy was born at her family's home on a farm northwest of Apache, Oklahoma, on July 10, 1935, to Howard Russell and Amanda Virginia (Lee) Brown. She attended Broxton School for all 12 years and graduated in 1953.
In 1949, Marcy accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized in a farm pond south of the Pine Ridge Community. She became a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. On November 4, 1955, she married the love of her life, James George "Jim" O'Malley, Jr., who preceded her in death on October 19, 1999.
After she and Jim moved to Lawton in 1956, Marcy joined First Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and later as the Vacation Bible School Director. She also worked at Fort Sill, beginning in the Transportation Motor Pool in 1954 until 1965, and returning in 1968 to work in the Supply and Services Division for an additional three years. In 2012, she became a member of Central Baptist Church.
Marcy was a devoted Christian whose church attendance and involvement were a central part of her life until her health declined. She was an enthusiastic University of Oklahoma football and softball fan, enjoyed researching family history, sewing, quilting, and loved traveling in the motor home she shared with Jim-especially on trips to Maine and Florida. She also had a passion for gardening and flowers.
Above all, Marcy cherished her family. She loved visiting with friends, spending time with her church family, and attending family reunions. Many of her family's fondest memories were created during reunions in Oklahoma, Texas, and one unforgettable gathering in New Mexico.
Marcy's legacy of faith, love, and devotion to family will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.
