Denise "Nae-Nae " Jean Wood

Denise Jean Wood went to her heavenly home on January 13th, 2026 in Lawton, OK with her family by her side. She was lovingly known as "Nae-Nae" and "Diesel". Denise was a proud member of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma.

She was born to Ben Wood Jr. and Luetta Codopony-Wood on December 2nd, 1955 at the Kiowa Indian Hospital. Denise attended school in Indiahoma and graduated from Indiahoma High School; Class of 1975. Denise was a lifelong and faithful servant of God; she was a devoted member of the Post Oak Mennonite Church.

Denise adored and cherished her family; and loved to visit and reminisce with them. She also loved to read her bible and work crosswords puzzles. She also enjoyed her favorite shows Gun Smoke and Golden Girls.

Denise is survived by sisters Glenna Sue Chance (Jerry), Victoria Lewis-Hart (Robert), Cathy Russell (Hank), Sharon Kay Grant, Kim Cantrell, Pam Friedman (Fred), Kimmie Shipman (Randall) Marceline Carroll (Joseph), Claudie Krone (Alan), James Estes (Christy), and best friend/ sister Natalie Amador.

Denise is preceded in death by her parents, grandmas Tachay Codopony, Lola Codopony and Aldean Codopony; sister and brother-in-law Cody and Walt Sorrow; brothers Glen Clark and Joe Sorrow; brother-in-law Mike Grant.

Denise was a loving aunt who went by numerous titles to many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday January 20th, 2026 at Post Oak Church in Indiahoma. Burial will follow at the Post Oak Cemetery.
