Funeral service for Robert (Bob) D. Ballard, 86, of Sterling, Oklahoma will be held Wednesday April 15, 2026 at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church, Sterling, Oklahoma. Pastor Mike Teel will officiate with the help of Larry Tidwell and David Duncan. Burial will follow at the Sterling, Cemetery under the direction of Fletcher Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday April 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM at Fletcher Funeral home.
Robert went to be with the Lord on Sunday April 12 at home in Sterling, Oklahoma at the age of 86, surrounded by his family.
Robert Douglas Ballard was born on January 11, 1940 in Sterling Oklahoma to Eva Marie (Nolen) Ballard and Melvin Ballard. He attended Elgin Public Schools and graduated in 1958. He joined the Army National Guard and served eight years. He married Mary Lou Moore on June 12, 1966. He worked for the Department of Defense (AAFES) and retired as a Refrigeration Foreman in 1995 after 37 years. He received many awards during his time of service. After retirement he was the primary babysitter for his grandsons until they began elementary school. He also drove a school bus for Sterling Public schools for eight years and Fletcher Public Schools for twelve years.
He was a Christian man who always sought God’s divine plan and put family first. He was the best husband, dad, and Papa.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Ballard and two daughters Evie Hudson and her husband Mike and Jeanie Peters. He has two grandsons Skyler Hudson and Tyler Hudson.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and four sisters, Roberta Petracek, Alice Fisher, Vada Jensen, and Joy Ballard.
