Marvin McConnell passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026, in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 90. He was born on February 3, 1936, in Wewoka, Oklahoma and lived a full and impactful life. He attended Wewoka High School before heading westward seeking adventure and better opportunities. He made his way to Vinson, Oklahoma where he met and married the love of his life, Bonnie May Carter. Together they had three wonderful children. Marvin had a strong work ethic that he passed on to his children and grandchildren and worked hard to provide for his family. He worked various jobs before going to work for Eddie Cordes Dodge in Lawton, Oklahoma as an Auto Paint and Body Mechanic for over 30 years.

Marvin was very artistic, painting several oil portraits and landscapes. After retirement he found a love for handcrafting wooden cars by looking at pictures in car magazines and refinishing antique furniture. He also loved to travel in his motor home with Bonnie in the passenger seat, and occasionally behind the steering wheel. Many summers were spent with the family camping beside the head waters of the Rio Grande River near Creede, Colorado. Family was very important to him. As the oldest son, he was the self-appointed "Family Advisor" to his siblings, whether they wanted his advice or not.

Marvin is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Bonnie May McConnell, son, Kenny McConnell and wife Rebecca, son, Gary McConnell and wife Gale, daughter, Darla Foley and husband Joe, nine grandchildren, Stephanie McConnell, April Griffin, Tara Collins, Adam McConnell, Laura Payne, Torrey Foley, Michael McConnell, Zach Foley, and Shannon Minkley, 11 great grandchildren, Ryden, Briley, Ellie, Bea, Emma, Norah, Hudson, Easton, Hadley, Josie and Penny.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Earl and Thelma McConnell, sisters, Dorothy McConnell, Modine Upton, Betty Holder Joyce Grissom, Norma Jean Taylor, Vivian Carter, Helen Hearrell, Joann Richards, brothers, Harold McConnell, Bobby McConnell and Billy McConnell.

Marvin's life was one of family and hard work. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Marvin was blessed by many loving, caring and compassionate caretakers from Complete OK. Hospice, CCMH Hospice, Nurses, Doctors, Chaplains and McMahon Tomlinson Nursing Rehab Center who went above and beyond to care for him.

We are forever grateful and thankful for each of you.
