A memorial service for Roy Weldon Bryant was held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Toombs officiating.
Roy Weldon Bryant passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, July 6, 2026. He was 94 years old.
Roy was born April 21, 1932 to George Washington Bryant and Bobbie Liss (Kelly) Bryant on a farm east of Carnegie. He attended Cedar Dale School from 1st - 8th grades and graduated from Carnegie High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He went to Southwest Oklahoma State University on a football scholarship. He married Joyce Collean Whaley on December 22, 1951. From this union, there were six children: Kathy, Diana "Lynn", Brenda, Bob, Carol and Randy.
He worked various jobs to support his family, including at Boeing in Wichita, Kansas; Moore Hat Company in Lawton, and an ice house in Duncan. He later went to work driving heavy equipment on projects around the state and the world, including I-44, I-40 and the Fort Cobb dam in Oklahoma and radar towers for military installations in Greenland. In 1961, Roy began his law enforcement career, which spanned approximately 50 years. During that time, he served with the Lawton Police Department, the Comanche County Sheriff's Office, the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, and the Comanche County Detention Center.
He married Teresa Williams on April 3, 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa, and grandchildren, Mike and Emily, of the home; his children Kathy Bryant, Brenda Broadwell, Bob Bryant and wife, Sheila, Carol Pennington and husband Bill, Randy Bryant and wife, Connie; grandchildren Don Jolly, Kelly Bell, Deanna Tichy, Mitchell Bryant, Nick Bryant, Chris Bryant, Dillon Bryant, and Alex Bryant; and 11 great grandchildren, including Anastasia and Blaine Bell, Jerad, Colin, and Taylor Jolly, Antonio Tichy, Emma and Cameron Bryant, Brooks and Colter Bryant, and Graham Bryant.
Roy was preceded in death by his first wife Joyce Whaley Bryant; daughter Diana "Lynn" Bryant; granddaughter Jennifer Pennington; and siblings Ernest, Bill, George, Bob "Pete", Gus, Becky, Gertrude, Oleta, and Sue.
