J.D. Lee, 84, of McAllen, TX, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at his home.
J.D. was born May 20, 1942 in Lawton, OK to William E. and Reva E. (Fawley) Lee. He was a 1960 alumni of Indiahoma, OK High School. He attended Cameron University and Tarrant County College. He started his career in the aviation industry as a mechanic with Brantley Helicopters in Frederick, OK. He later moved to Keller, TX and then McAllen, TX where he retired from GE Quality Assurance.
J.D. led an active life with family and friends and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, camping, hunting, and skiing. J.D. was a Dallas Cowboy fan and attended many of their games. He also attended many Indiahoma basketball games over the years.
J.D. was a generous man, a wonderful father, brother, friend and mentor.
He is survived by his wife Maria Lee of the home, daughter Celena Bustos, RV nomad, son Jay Lee, Snyder, OK, granddaughter Molly Bustos and husband Azriel Martinson, Amador City, CA. J.D. is also survived by his step-daughters Lori Meza and Leslie Torres (Rick), San Antonio, TX, step-son Javier Meza (Eliza), Corpus Christi, TX and step-granddaughter Caitlyn Vela, San Antonio, TX. In addition, he is survived by sisters Joyce Jones, Lawton, OK, Janice Dodd, Cache, OK and June (Jim) Holbrook, Weatherford, OK. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved Uncle J.D.
J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jeffrey Don, brothers Bill (Doy), Lewisville, TX, Rex (Jean), Van Alstyne, TX, and Larry, Tulsa, OK, and brothers-in-law Olvis Jones and Jack Dodd.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private scattering ceremony will be held.
