George Richard Jung

Funeral mass for George Richard Jung, 89, of Lawton was held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. Raymond K. Ackerman, pastor officiating.

Mr. Jung passed away on Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, 10 days before his 90th birthday at his home with family in Lawton.

Burial was held at Sterling Cemetery, Sterling, under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

George was born on Nov. 13, 1933 in Sterling, to Joe and Bertha Jung. He grew up in Sterling where he attended school, graduating in 1952. He married Pauline “Polly” Duesman on Aug. 28, 1954 in Sterling and they made their home in Lawton. George worked for a while at Griffin’s Wholesale. He also worked at Allen’s Home Lumber and later worked as a custodian and bus driver for Lawton Public Schools. George then owned and operated George R. Jung and Sons Painting and Remodeling. A business he really never retired from, working right up until his health wouldn’t let him continue. Mr. Jung would jokingly tell his customers to “take five dollars off” when they brought him coffee. He and Polly took trips and he enjoyed watching westerns. Polly passed away on Jan. 23, 2011. George was an avid member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church as well as a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus member. In his later years, he enjoyed working around the house and listening to his record player.

He is survived by son, Greg and Darlene Jung, their son, Jason and Crystal Dittsworth with their children, Nathan Dittsworth, Viktor Sisneros and Maritza Sisneros; daughter, Stacy and Silbestre Acosta, their children, Conner and Brooklyn Beach and son, Jole Beach, Ariana Acosta; daughter, Shelby Jung; daughter, Meaghan and Aaron Johnson with their children, Brock, Jake, and Hank; son, Rick and Lily Jung, with their children, Jacob and Kalie Jung and their children, Ava, Ellis, and Jack; and David’s children, Raquel Jung and Cesar Garcia and their children, Ziclali and Braulio; Charlie Jung with her children, Sergio Jr, Analisia, Ramiro, Sol, and Nayeli and grandchild, Giovanni; and many nieces; nephews; and other loving family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pauline Jung; his son, David Jung; and his brothers and sisters.
