Carol Jean Moorhead, 69, of Sterling peacefully left her earthly home Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023 at her home in Sterling surrounded by her loving family. Carol was born in Sinton, Texas on March 22, 1954 to Henry A. Tryon, Jr. and Juanona June “Nonie” (Westmoreland) Tryon. She graduated from high school in San Antonio, Texas. In 1987, she began her position as an executive administrative assistant at Southwestern Medical Center until she retired in 2009. She moved to Cyril in 1988. Carol joined the First Christian Church in Cyril and was a faithful member her entire life. At Cyril First Christian Church she served on the board, served as the board secretary, sang in the choir, and helped direct youth musical presentations. On Oct. 4, 2010, Carol formally adopted her children Shawn, Jennifer, and Jason, making what she and her children had always known, she was their mom.
Carol loved to play games and was very competitive. She loved to spend her evenings and weekends with her family and friends playing Farkle, Uno, Chickenfoot, and pretty much any other card or board game she could get her hands on. She always played to win, even with her kids and grandkids.
On Oct. 21, 2018, she married Michael Moorhead. They went on many adventures including road trips in their camper, visiting places they both had always wanted to see, and spent time with friends and family. They boundlessly shared the wonderful life they lived.
Carol was diagnosed with cancer shortly after she and Mike married. Mike was steadfast and faithful to Carol through her diagnosis. Throughout all her treatments, Carol kept her amazing outlook on life and always kept her focus on taking care of others.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Moorhead; daughter, Jennifer Neustadter; sons: David Robinson, Shawn Robinson, and Jason Robinson; stepsons; Steven Reed, Shawn Reed, and Benjamin Moorhead and stepdaughters: Samantha Bricker, and Kelly Glover; 24 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister, June Barnes, and brother, John Tryon.
